Over the course of a medical career that now spans more than a couple of decades, Dr. Mark Dekutoski MD has done a lot that has turned him into a world-renowned orthopedic spine surgeon. Not only is he a highly-skilled surgeon, but he is also a top-notch researcher who is capable of leading medical breakthroughs that may have been unthinkable comprehension just a decade or two ago. He currently works with the CORE Institute in Arizona, where his specialty is minimally-invasive spine treatments for adults and children with deformity-scoliosis, kyphosis, spine tumors, spondylolisthesis and disc degeneration.
Prior to his work with CORE, Dr. Mark Dekutoski practiced for many years at the Mayo Clinic, where he served as the Chairman of their medical school. While in that position, he helped develop that school’s Orthopedic surgery curriculum. Over the decades, Dr. Mark Dekutoski has often shared his vast knowledge with other experts in the field, which is why he is so highly respected worldwide for his expertise. At various times, he has served as Chair of the Scoliosis Research Society and AOSpine North America Educational committees. He has also been a member of North American Spine Society and Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. It is an understatement to say that Mark Dekutoski, MD has demonstrated significant research ability. Overall, he has published dozens of peer-reviewed articles based on his extensive research into orthopedic surgery, on his own and as part of research teams looking for major improvements in the area. Some of his papers have won awards in recent years, like “The AOSpine North America Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy Study…” which won Global Spine Congress’ Best Paper Award 1st Place from AOSPINE International.
